Great pride as Tamaroa students honor veterans in their families

It's hard to send a chill down the spine of a seasoned reporter, but that happened Thursday afternoon as the staff and 117 students of the Tamaroa Grade School honored family members who served in our nation's military.

They have names: Thomas Jablonski (Army), Gene Marcquenski (Army), Robert Turney (Marines), Leonard Klamm (Navy), Gary Stanhouse (Army), Josh Harris (Army), Bill Doerflein (Army), James Geary (Army), Steven Harris (Marines), Robert Zoeckler (Marines), Mike Koenegstein (National Guard) and Adam Watkins (Air Force).

Teacher Cindy Opp and Supt. Bob Trover welcomed students and veterans, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of "America" and the "Star Spangled Banner" by the school chorus.

Students introduced their veterans and a poem was read to them. A reception with coffee and cookies followed. It was a day that will be remembered for a long time.
