Sales tax revenue holds up despite ice & snow
One would have thought that with the unrelenting ice and snow that settled in before the Christmas holiday that sales tax paid by local consumers in local stores and rebated back to the City of Du Quoin would be down.
To the contrary, last quarter receipts show in October-November-December 2013 show income to the city of $620,380.45.
Income to the city during the last quarter in 2012 show receipts of $553,893.75.
That's an increase of $88,699.93 over the previous year.
