Du Quoin Ordinance Keeps Debris off the Walks and Streets

The Du Quoin City Council Monday approved Ordinance 2012-O08-02 addressing deposits and obstruction on sidewalks and streets.

Quoting from the ordinance approved Monday, "It shall be unlawful to deposit on any public sidewalk, any material of any kind, nature or description whatsoever. Merchandise or other articles may be deposited on sidewalks preparatory to delivery, provided that the usable width is not thereby reduced to less than four feet and provided that no such article shall remain on such walk for more than 30 minutes."
