Mott speaks to council regarding Chester Stinger Youth Football Program

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Chester Stingers Youth Football Program member Jeff Mott came to Monday night's Chester City Council meeting to speak to the board regarding a donation for the Chester Stingers Youth Football Program.

"We are asking for a donation out of the Cohen Fund," Mott stated.

In a submitted letter to the council, the members requested a commitment of $10,000 in order for the program to move forward. This football league is an excellent opportunity for the youth of this town as well as the families and businesses of Chester. The money that we are asking for is a necessity in order to ensure successful implementation of the program.

"This would be a one time donation to start up the program that would cover the initial cost of the equipment," Mott stated." We can fund the program next year on our own."

The letter went on to say there is a possibility of 30 home games and that will occur in Chester on?Saturdays and Sundays from August to November. This will bring an influx of money to the businesses of Chester. In addition practices will be held 2 to 3 times each week per team.

"Their will be 10 teams in the conference. It will bring money to the community," Mott stated.

"We need to order the equipment by mid May that is why we asking for a commitment now," Mott stated.

Mott received positive responses from the council. The Mayor stated by the next meeting or the meeting after that the council could get it on the agenda and a decision would be made.

In other council news:

The council approved the Mayor's appointment of Pam Sheely to the Beautification Commission.

An engineering agreement with J.T. Blankenship, Inc. for sanitary sewer system improvements Pump station #9 was approved.

The Cohen pump station conversion project was approved in the amount of $7136.00.

A quote from SSI Schaefer for trash totes was tabled.

A resolution for call back policy for employees and a resolution for an on-call policy for the gas department was approved.

The next regularly scheduled city council meeting is set for Monday,?March 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.
