Open Meetings Act Tele-Institute offered by U of I Extension

Local government officials and other leaders serving on special district boards will have the opportunity to gain valuable information about important changes to Open Meetings Act without leaving the county, thanks to University of Illinois Extension program and the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"> Michael Luke, Senior Assistant Attorney General, will discuss the changes to the Opening Meeting Act that will be coming January 1, 2010. Included in these changes are the establishment of a public access counselor in the Attorney General's Office for reviewing complaints and issues regarding electronic communication for meetings.

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"> The Open Meeting Act Tele-Institute will be broadcasted over a statewide audio-teleconferencing system through Illinois county Extension Offices. <span style="color: black">The program will be offered from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Randolph County Extension office, located at 313 West Belmont Street, Sparta.</span>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"> The Tele-Institute program also provides the opportunity for county officials to earn Certified County Official (CCO) credit. Each Tele-Institute qualifies for 2 hours of general CCO credit.
