Run for the Fallen Aug. 23

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[In coordination with nationwide vents for "Run for the Fallen," family and friends of PFC Wyatt D. Eisenhauer have organized a run/walk/bike event Aug. 23 at the Pinckneyville City Park.

On Aug. 23 there will be remembrance runs held throughout the nation and in other countries. The local goal is to have participants collectively run, walk or bike a mile for each fallen hero from Illinois who was killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. There is no minimum distance that must be completed. The miles completed at this event will be pledged towards a national total of miles for all fallen service members.

The local event will begin a 4 p.m with an opening ceremony a the pavilion north of the main entrance to the City Park. The ceremony will include the reading of the names of Illinois' fallen heroes from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Veterans and those who are currently serving in the Armed Forces will also be recognized.

There is no cost to participate. Participants will have the opportunity to make donations to the following organizations: Wounded Warrior Project, HUGS, Yellow Ribbon Fund and the First Lt. Michael Cleary fund.

There will be food provided at no cost to participants.

If you feel you can't walk, run or bike, please feel free to attend and help remember and honor those who have and are serving our country.
