Courthouse employees plan 5K night walk to benefit deputy Chris Harvey

Circuit Clerk Kim Kellerman announced Thursday that employees of the Perry County Courthouse are planning a 5K Night Walk to benefit Deputy Chris Harvey, who is battling a brain tumor.

The walk is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. It will begin at the Courthouse with the 5K route going to the Perry County Fairgrounds and back to the Courthouse.

Registration for the event will open at 5:30 or 6 p.m. on Oct. 11. Kellerman said that the Courthouse employees are planning a Facebook page about the event, as well as flyers and registration forms to be distributed soon.

In other business, the board:

• acknowledged the vacancy on the Perry County Housing Authority Board left by the death of Nick Dolce Sr. and appointed Clem Campanella to fill the remainder of Dolce's term, which expired April 14, 2017.

• passed a resolution approving 10-year special use permits for Deborah Ruff to place a new mobile home on the east side of Granny's Creek Road and Jessica Fleenor to place a new mobile home on Main Street in Cutler.

• appointed Jeff Ashauer to the Southern Illinois Economic Development Authority board.

• appointed Raymond D. Clark to the local Emergency Planning Committee, approved EMA mutual aid agreements with Marshall Browning Hospital and Williamson County.

• passed a resolution issuing raffle licenses to Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce, National German Pointing Dog Association, Tamaroa PTO/Booster Club, Sandy McCune Benefit Raffle, Pinckneyville Band Parents and Julie Shute Benefit Raffle.
