Construction begins on new Du Quoin Belt Tech building

Construction has begun for the new conveyor belt service shop for Indiana-based Belt Tech, Inc which came to Du Quoin three years ago and is currently housed in the Heartland Ford Inc. building (Southern Illinois Petrol years ago). The company reached agreement early this year with the City of Du Quoin to build a new 60 x 200 conveyor belt service center in the Du Quoin Industrial Park.

Their new building is being constructed at the southwest end of the main industrial park road. It is south and on the same side of the road on which MPP Inc. is located. Manager Joe Folden told the Du Quoin city council this spring the new facility will accommodate larger service doors and a shop layout that works better for the company. Here in southern Illinois, the company has grown from seven to 14 people and offers complete conveyor belt installation, repair and restoration service for the coal mining and rock quarry industries.

Economic director Jeff Ashauer says additionally that Burke Manufacturing plans to relocate to the industrial park and there is also a transportation project being considered, as well.
