African-American Museum of Southern Illinois opens summer enrichment program

The African American Museum of Southern Illinois has announced the opening of its 2018 Learned Wednesday Summer Enrichment Program, to be held June 4 to July 13.

The free program is for youth entering fourth through sixth grades in any southern Illinois community.

It is designed to give students the chance to learn and explore opportunities that may not ordinarily be available during the summer. Activities include fishing, field trips, swimming, crafts, live theater, community service and black history.

Applications may be picked up at the museum, located inside University Mall, between 1 and 5 p.m. on weekdays and returned to the same location by May 30.
