Du Quoin Scouting for Food program this Saturday & next
Scouting for Food is the Boy Scouts of America's largest one-day food drive and in Du Quoin is accomplished in two installments.
The campaign is launched on "Bag Distribution Day" (Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013) when Scouts distribute plastic bags to residences.
The Scouts return to residences on the following week (Saturday, Nov. 16),"Bag Collection Day," starting at 9 a.m. to retrieve the bags filled with donated non-perishable items.
In Du Quoin, the items are sent to the food pantries for distribution.
Donations are necessary; nutritious donations are needed.
Make Scouting for Food canned good contribution for other families based on what you would choose for your own. Healthy, nutritious meals are especially important for the proper development of children.
Drive safe and slow, Scouts are on the go.
With Scouting for Food participants canvassing neighborhoods, both Scouts and drivers alike are reminded to exercise caution. Motorists should be careful when backing out of driveways and reduce speeds by 5 to 10 miles per hour while traveling in subdivisions.
