Third Du Quoin Art on Main opens on Saturday, May 10

Du Quoin has the State Fair in the fall, the Holiday Lights Fair in the winter, and now Art on Main in the spring.

Art on Main is an art walk along Main Street, exhibiting both student and professional artworks. It will be a great opportunity for families to get out and about to enjoy the work of local artists and their children's artworks. In addition to promoting the arts, the goal of the Du Quoin Art Committee is to advance Main Street businesses.

Nearly 1,000 student artworks and some of the adult artworks will be displayed within the Main Street businesses. Other artists selling their work and registered vendors, selling arts and crafts, will be set up on Main Street. The street will also be filled with face painting, Kid's Splatter Painting, an art inspired photo booth, Dennis Cole's fair food, and a few local bands, including The Eisenhauer Band & friends and The Spirit of Life Band.

The kick-off for the art walk will be Saturday, May 10 from 12 - 4 p.m. The art in the businesses will remain on display until May 16.

Artists this year will have the choice of paying $5 to enter two artworks to be displayed in a business or paying $10 to set up a table on Main Street with unlimited artworks.

Those interested in submitting two artworks should bring one or two display-ready artworks to the Art on Main registry day on May 3 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Du Quoin City Hall.

Any artists interested in registering as a vendor, will also register on the same registry date, but bring their artworks to set up on Main Street the day of the kick-off. Vendors may also register via email and may access a registry form on our Facebook page. Any educators interested in entering student artwork should contact the Du Quoin Art Committee for display and drop-off procedures.
