Du Quoin chamber members can see electric rewards
Nick Hill of Select Energy Partners was a guest of the Du Quoin Chamber of Commerce during its noon meeting Wednesday at Alongi's Restaurant in Du Quoin. Nick's company is an electric utility consultant which has worked with towns, counties and chambers of commerce on finding the best electric rates under utility deregulation.
He told approximately 25 in attendance that if you are--or become--a member of the Du Quoin Chamber of Commerce, his company is offering to bundle accounts of businesses, then go out into the marketplace and find the best electric rate for you. His company will then rebate some of the savings back to the chamber for use in their community and economic development work. You must call or stop by the Du Quoin chamber office to pick up a form and attach your latest electric bill so Hill's company can compare it to other electric rates and find the best deal for chamber members as a whole.
In other action, the chamber is hiring former Du Quoin Main Street director Pam Pereira to manage the chamber's concession operation during the 10 days of the Du Quoin State Fair. The chamber has not yet reached agreement on compensation, according to Chuck Novak, who managed those operations in the past. The chamber is waiting on its new contract for the 2013 Du Quoin fair.
